Be Engaged

Chances are that you’re already engaged in your child’s education, and that’s why you’re looking everywhere you can to find out how you can best help. We feel the same way, and that’s why we’re committed to being a strong resource for parents, teachers, and students; in fact, we’d like to think that HEM is here for anyone eager to contribute to a better public school system in Hawaii. What you’ll find on these pages are some traditional, and some alternative ways to get involved and be part of the change we all want to see in our public schools.

Traditionally, there have always been some great ways to get involved in public schools; the Parent Teacher Association/Organization (PTA/PTO) is a great place to start. And if you don’t have one? Many great debates and changes have started over coffee in the cafeteria. Being an engaged parent can be as simple as inviting other moms and dads to start talking about your school and what it needs.

We started our own Education Rally by sitting down one morning in the school cafeteria and deciding to make a difference.

And there are many other ways to be an engaged parent of a public school child. Below are a few examples. Send us an email and tell us how you are involved.
